AN INTERACTIVE TUTORIAL ON HEART SOUNDS

This easy-to-use, affordable simulation is designed to familiarize medical students, residents, and allied health students with the auscultatory part of the cardiac exam. It was developed by Anthony J. Frisby, PhD, and Adam L. Wilkes, MD, both of Thomas Jefferson University.

In the tutorial mode, you select one of the 18 cardiac abnormalities presented and your mouse acts as a stethoscope, enabling you to hear the heart sounds. You'll also see a visual representation of the abnormality, a description of the clinical setting, associated findings, and common radiation of the abnormality.

In the self-test mode, you listen to the heart sounds, select the corresponding abnormality, and receive your answer.

With Cardiac Auscultation, students can spend as much time as they need with the "patient", listening to heart sounds again and again until they are able to identify cardiac abnormalities readily.

Note to Mac users: The Cardiac Auscultation software is compatible with Mac OS8 and OS9, but the software is not compatible with Mac OSX.

The Institutional License allows the use of the CD-ROM by several people on one computer station only.

You may choose the single-user edition of this product.
